The Latest on COVID-19 at Kendal on Hudson

May 15, 2020 – Spring is upon us and, naturally, everyone is eager to be out and about. Coupled with a resident population eager to end quarantine, Administration is receiving a lot of questions as to when Kendal’s community restrictions will begin to “ease”.  Our geographic region has not seen enough progress to make any changes this week. Resident Council leadership and Administration will be evaluating first steps toward modifying restrictions.  Areas to be considered first include outdoor gathering of residents and housekeeping services in the IL apartments.  More details will be forthcoming. Please be reminded that such modifications would be applicable to the independent living community.  Adirondack, Sunnyside and Clearwater (collectively, “the Health Center”) plans are dependent upon the regulations applicable to those levels of care.

On May 10th, Governor Cuomo issued an Executive Order directing the State’s Adult Care Facilities (Assisted Living) and Skilled Nursing Facilities (Nursing Home) to provide routine COVID-19 diagnostic testing to staff.  Kendal on Hudson has complied by submitting required documentation to the Department of Health.  The Infection Control Team and applicable Subcommittee continue to hone the testing plan as additional information and clarification is provided by the Department of Health and our industry advocacy organization, LeadingAge New York.  Testing is anticipated to commence May 20th.
