3 Ways Kendal on Hudson Is Transforming the Experience of Aging

Over time, seniors who retired began to be perceived as uninterested in the world around them. They began to be portrayed as simply wanting to relax, spend their time resting and not pursue further education or opportunities for growth. This is not only a harmful stereotype, but couldn’t be further away from how seniors truly want to live their lives. It certainly doesn’t describe our residents at Kendal on Hudson! Our residents are vibrant, full of drive and passion and want to spend their days enjoying everything that life has to offer, just as they did before. We know this first-hand, and as a result, have created a place where the experience of aging can be transformed.

“At Kendal on Hudson, we’ve made it our goal to transform the experience of aging,” says Jean Eccleston, Chief Financial Officer of Kendal on Hudson, the only true Lifecare community in Westchester County. “This includes not only enhancing life and creating enriching opportunities for seniors to do what they are passionate about and love, but also working against stereotypes and perceptions that others may have about aging. Here, seniors don’t simply settle for basic programming and a life of relaxation, they experience complete freedom, a resident-driven lifestyle including programming they create, opportunities to travel and so much more.”

How Kendal on Hudson Is Transforming the Experience of Aging

  • Everything is resident-based. Many communities tout resident engagement, but at Kendal on Hudson it’s more than something we say, it’s what we do. Kendal on Hudson residents are an integral part of operational decision-making and the daily establishment and evolution of the community’s culture. Enjoy one of the many programs and groups our residents have chosen and created, dine with friends and family in the area of your choice. Go out to town and do whatever you please. Have an idea for a club, class or event? Bring it up to the resident council. Each day is full of opportunity and what you do is entirely up to you.
  • There are multiple opportunities for travel and exploration. Whether you want to pick up and travel abroad, go to the city for a day, volunteer in the surrounding community or explore another Kendal community, you can easily do it here. Many of our residents enjoy freedom and security that our community offers, allowing them to go and see as much of the world as they can. With Kendal on Hudson’s residence swap program – one of our residents’ favorites – they can switch homes and explore new, different areas for as long as they agree upon. Residents also love to enjoy an array of festivals, the proximity to New York City and the vast opportunities to volunteer or gain even more educational experience.
  • Health and wellness programs are personally tailored. Fitness and well-being are a priority of residents at Kendal on Hudson. Here, residents can receive health and nutritional advice from our team and participate in a number of fitness programs. Our fitness center is professionally staffed and full of state-of-the-art exercise equipment.
