Update on COVID-19 at Kendal on Hudson

April 24, 2020

As we approach May, Kendal on Hudson continues to be diligent regarding COVID-19 and keeping the community safe. All previous precautions are still in place to limit the spread of the virus including all restrictions on visitors. We are still encouraging and reminding residents and staff to practice infection control measures including handwashing, social distancing, self-quarantine and face coverings when outside of their immediate personal area. Although we are not out of the woods, we begin to have discussions about what “re-opening” would look like for our community. Because of the vulnerable population we serve, this must be done extremely thoughtfully with the health and safety of residents and staff in the forefront of our minds.

There are many conversations about the benefit of testing in our communities and the benefit of such testing to ensure the safety of residents and staff. Kendal Corporation and its affiliates have begun to advocate for COVID-19 testing. As opportunities for advocacy arise, we are hopeful that the voice of our Kendal on Hudson Board, residents and staff will contribute positively to this important issue.
