How Kendal on Hudson Maintains Ongoing Excellence in Infectious Control and Safety Precautions

When it comes to health and safety, Kendal on Hudson doesn’t leave anything to chance. In fact, we continuously maintain our infectious control and safety precautions even when there aren’t any sicknesses going around. This helps us to always be prepared and ready whenever sickness strikes, especially during a pandemic.

“Our team stands ready to jump into action thanks to our number of training sessions and safety precautions,” says Lisa Wacht, Health Services Administrator at Kendal on Hudson, the only true Lifecare Community in Westchester County. “Each day, our infection control committee meets virtually to consider how to best keep the residents, staff and essential visitors safe, and thus, we continuously make decisions based on best practices.”

Kendal on Hudson Infectious Control and Safety Precautions

No matter what ensues, our team is here to help. Here are just a few of the ways we take extra precautions not only now, but always.

Continuous cleaning. We know that having a space that is clean, well-kept and sanitized is important not only for health, but for happiness as well. This is why we routinely and continuously clean our community. This not only ensures that your home is kept beautiful, but that any hidden illness is removed. Common spaces are cleaned several times a day.

  • Mandatory infection control training. Each year, the staff undergoes rigorous mandatory training on infection control. In fact, as an added precaution, we added an extra training this year at the beginning of this pandemic to ensure we continue best practices with our residents.
  • We serve you. Especially now more than ever, it’s important to know that you are being provided with the cleanest products touched by the fewest number of gloved hands. This is why we have suspended dining services. Now everyone gets room service!
  • Visitors are allowed based on safety measures. At times when residents are sick, or especially now, visitors are limited or not allowed altogether. Currently, no one in our community is allowed to have visitors to help us best keep our residents and team safe. We continue to allow “business essential visitors” including home health aides, mail and package delivery and necessary utility personnel. All essential visitors are screened according to the CDC guidelines.
  • Staff are screened prior to beginning their day. Each day when staff arrive, they are screened according to the CDC guidelines to ensure they do not exhibit symptoms, have a fever or are otherwise unwell.
