Lifelong Learning with Pace University: Nurturing a Spirit of Inquiry

For older adults in Lifecare communities, experiences and fulfillment are things they value greatly. From volunteer opportunities and their careers to lifelong learning and trying new things, they seek a lifestyle in which they can continue to pursue their passions, grow as individuals and expand their horizons while living the lifestyle to which they are accustomed.

“It’s our mission to provide a lifestyle that transforms the experience of aging,” says Monique Edwards of Kendal on Hudson, the only true Lifecare community in Westchester County. “This means providing an array of programs and opportunities for residents. From engaging events within the community to our prime location and proximity to New York City, there are a number of ways residents can remain informed, get involved and continue their educational journeys.

Pace University: A Partnership with Many Benefits

To help enhance the educational experience of our residents and the community, Kendal on Hudson has partnered with Pace University, a private university with campuses both in Lower Manhattan and Westchester County. This partnership will allow for “new avenues for education of all kinds,” according to Jim Antonucci Jr., CEO of Kendal on Hudson.

  • Complimentary classes. Residents of Kendal on Hudson can enjoy one class per semester, leaving them room to expand their current expertise or even try something completely new. Then, as another semester comes around, they can have the opportunity to choose their course over again. It’s education defined entirely by you.
  • Opportunities to mentor. According to Marvin Krislov, president of Pace University, they are thrilled to “welcome the accomplished academics, entrepreneurs and professionals who live at Kendal into classrooms, adding to their perspectives and enriching the academic experience for students.” Having residents within the university will allow for unique mentorship opportunities, internships and more.
  • Access to performances. Another perk that residents can experience is discounted admission to performances at Pace’s Schimmel Center in New York City. Simply take the train for a short ride and spend the day or attend the performances of your choice.
  • Athletic event admittance. Whether you enjoy football, baseball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse or more, with the Pace University Partnership, residents can easily attend sporting events.
